CASE STUDY

Client:  Decanter Events Ltd

Production:  Giant Prop Design & Build for Grenade

Location:  Touring (UK & Ireland)

Sector:  Events & Promotions

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Seedbed Studio was commissioned by Decanter Events Ltd to design and construct a giant prop sculpture for the marketing launch of Grenade Oreo. The brief called for a striking, large-scale installation to serve as a centre-piece for outdoor promotional events - capturing public attention and reinforcing brand identity as part of Grenade’s nationwide awareness campaign.

The prop would tour multiple high-footfall outdoor locations across the UK and Ireland, so it needed to be visually impressive, durable and easy to install and remove under tight event schedules.

THE DESIGN CHALLENGE

Working from the client’s initial sketch, the Seedbed Studio team was tasked with turning a bold creative concept into a safe, robust and practical touring prop. The key design requirements were:

  • Scale: The prop needed to measure approximately 4 metres in length, making it a prominent and photogenic feature for marketing activations.

  • Durability: It had to withstand the challenges of outdoor public display and multiple installations.Speed of setup: The design had to allow fast erection and de-rigging, ensuring smooth transitions between event locations.

  • Safety: As the installation would take place in busy public areas, safety and stability were critical considerations.

OUR SOLUTION

Seedbed Studio transformed the client’s sketch into a fully realised 3D construction design, carefully balancing creative impact with practical touring needs.

The centrepiece was a 4-metre-long sculpted Grenade Oreo bar, designed to appear as if it had crash-landed into the ground. We created a textured, weighted base with sculpted details mimicking shattered concrete, enhancing the sense of energy and drama. A fabric parachute was attached to the rear, completing the illusion of a dynamic ‘landing’ moment.

The prop was built using lightweight yet strong materials, enabling quick assembly, safe anchoring and efficient transport. The modular design also ensured repeatable use and reliable performance at each event site.

The first activation took place on London’s South Bank outside the Royal Festival Hall, where it immediately became an eye-catching centrepiece that drew audiences and created highly shareable content.
